What does Equity in Schools Mean to Me?
The current political climate may make it seem difficult to fully meet students’ needs in an equitable way—but should that deter us? At the heart of education lies an undeniable truth: every child deserves to be safe, loved, nurtured, and educated, regardless of the shifting prognoses of American education.
This belief has shaped my work, not just domestically but overseas, where I sought to foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice as an instructional leader. Through firsthand experience, I’ve witnessed the transformative power of equitable education—how it dismantles barriers, amplifies voices, and creates opportunities for all students, no matter where they come from.
As I continue to reflect on what it means to truly serve children in schools, I return to the simplest yet most profound guiding principle: do what is best for kids.
Join the conversation—let’s explore together what equitable education should look like, in every classroom, for every student. Like, comment, and let’s keep pushing forward.
