March Madness for Literacy: Charles County Feeder Schools Unite

On March 26, Turner Elementary, Stoddert Middle, and Stone High—three Charles County Public Schools and feeder schools—joined forces to tackle reading gaps and support student growth through March Madness for Literacy. With the generous support of Thomas Stone HS and Stoddert MS, this event was an exciting mix of learning, fun, and community engagement.

📚 Parent-Friendly Data Dive – Families explored student reading progress and learned strategies for literacy growth. 🎯 iReady Literacy Seminars – Featuring games and activities to help move students from red to yellow to green (below grade level to on/above grade level). 📢 Cheer Camp – Led by Thomas Stone High School Cheerleaders, bringing energy and encouragement. 🏀 Basketball Camp – Hosted by Benjamin Stoddert Middle School Basketball Team, giving students a chance to build skills and confidence. 🍗 Chick-fil-A, Raffles & Family Fun – A celebration of community and student success. 🏆 Turner 4th & 5th Grade Basketball Scrimmage – Closing the night with a spirited game.

As feeder schools, Turner students will transition to Stoddert, and Stoddert students will later attend Stone, making collaboration like this even more meaningful. Together, we’re building stronger students, a stronger community, and a stronger future.

A huge thank you to TSHS, Stoddert, and Turner for making this event unforgettable! Let’s keep the momentum going.
