I am a servant leader.

I believe in approaching every new day with new energy, dedication, focus and motivation. I aim to improve something in my life each and every day, and this action makes me a reflective school leader; one whom’s priority is firmly planted in academic achievement of students and building positive climate and culture for all stakeholders. A servant leader respects individual differences and celebrates what unites the staff; regards educators as experts in the field and trust them mold young learners. A servant leader leads from the rear and pushes forward those in her care. She builds collegial relationships based on consistency and fairness so that when engaging in crucial conversations about student learning and instructional practices, respect is at the forefront.

A Servant leader….

● Values and included all and celebrates diversity

● Leads with benevolence, optimism, appreciation and vulnerability

● Demonstrates empathy, compassion and superlative listening skills

● Executes sound decision making based upon data, goals, and achievement.

My servant leadership style affords me to use my persuasion, awareness, and positive relationship building skills to guide my school to academic advancement.

I am a transformational leader.

Genuine transformational leadership is when the leader is concerned about the common good of others. (Northouse, 2016). The idea is to find a collaborative method in which decisions are made. It begins with empowering the entire school community, including parents, to help make decisions which results in a more cohesiveunit. through my transformational leadership style, I help develop and maintain a professional and collaborative school through the development of the first ever professional development platform created by educators and facilitated by educators. In a community that was failing, a gleam of hope through transformative quick thinking is lifting our morale.

Transformational leaders are strategists. Communicating and collaborating with educators and parents is an essential component of my leadership style because it allows for transparency. A culture of trust must be present in a highly effective school. I spend a great deal of time with educators inquiring about what works well in our instructional practices and what need reformation. I have found the the more educators that are involved in decision making, the higher the school morale and the greater the participation and commitment in carrying out the goals of the school.

My transformational leadership style has help build a culture where….

● Data is analysed and decisions are made to advance instructional practice and student learning.

● Discussions are engaging and connected to the school’s vision, mission and school wide goals.

● Collaboration is prioritized.

As a servant and transformational leader, I work collaboratively with staff, students and parents to promote school success.
